CPM Truths-Used to overcome anger

Understanding the Seven Truths of the CPM

The Seven Truths used in Cognitive Principle Matrix provide the theoretical knowledge on how to move through the five zones of the matrix and overcome anger. The objective of the seven truths is to align the conscious and subconscious minds so that the conscious mind can give up control to the subconscious mind and achieve optimum flow. The seven truths are:

1st Truth:   Conscious versus Subconscious.

2nd Truth:  Principle Thinking versus Negative Comparative Thinking

3rd Truth:  Inside versus Outside

4th Truth:   Support versus Challenge

5th Truth:  Influence versus Concern

6th Truth:  Control versus Responsibility

7th Truth:   Behavior versus the Person

 

1st Truth: Conscious versus Subconscious.

  • Conscious is based on logic and free will- subconscious has no logic or free will
  • Conscious uses time in relation to events- subconscious uses emotions.
  • Conscious mind uses explicit knowledge-subconscious uses explicit and implicit knowledge.
  • Conscious mind uses present time- subconscious only uses past or future time
  • Conscious works at 40bits/sec –subconscious works at 40 million/ bits/sec.
  • The conscious mind is used 10% of the time-the subconscious mind is used 90% of the time.
  • New patterns [habits] are formed in 2-14 days, old patterns are changed in 15-250 days.
  • New patterns are formed through repetition. The subconscious mind will form new negative patterns and strengthen old negative patterns when the conscious mind ruminates [goes over the past] or worries [goes over the future]
  • The best way to change a negative pattern is to create a positive pattern and link that to the negative pattern.
  • When the conscious and subconscious minds are aligned then there is strong mental health. Alignment occurs when the conscious mind unconditionally accepts the subconscious mind’s thoughts and emotions.
  • The subconscious mind is highly predictive to triggers received and will assume a certain outcome will occur and will reproduce the same response as last time.

General rule:

  • In the short term emotions control thinking.
  • In the long term thinking [beliefs] control emotions.
  • In dysfunction, negative emotions and negative beliefs combine to control both the short term and the long term.
  • In optimum flow conscious thinking is used to voluntarily give up internal control and responsibility, resulting in substantially reduced emotions related to fear and greed. In optimum flow, thinking controls emotions in the short term.

Note: The first truth is between conscious and sub-conscious minds. The remaining truths are between the positive conscious mind and the negative subconscious mind to understand how to align the two.

 

2nd Truth: Principle Thinking versus Negative Comparative Thinking [NCT]

The 2nd truth is that over the long term principle thinking will overcome negative comparative thinking because of spiritual thinking.There are 5 groups of principles:

  1. Spiritual -Neutral [positive or negative –personal or behavioral]
  2.  Relationship principles –Positive and Personal
  3. Influencing principles –Positive and Behavioral
  4. Negative principles – Negative and Behavioral
  5. Negative concerns-Negative and Personal

The conscious mind uses the five principle groups, whereas subconscious mind uses the latter four principle groups.

Principle thinking can overcome negative comparative thinking because the subconscious mind uses a patterning system, whereas the conscious mind can use logic to direct the spiritual principles.

Spiritual –Unconditional Giving overcomes human nature –Greed

Spiritual-Unconditional Acceptance overcomes human nature –Fear.

Note. AI [artificial intelligence] is gradually replicating the human nature patterning system, but it can’t create the spiritual aspect, because the spiritual is neutral and does not use conditions such as events or triggers.

3rd Truth: Inside versus Outside.

Human beings have an internal drive to rise above their human nature by controlling fear and greed. It is not a moral decision on what is fear or greed, but how to control that in order to get what your want. [Maslow’s Self-Actualisation, later renamed as Transcendence]

By controlling fear through unconditional acceptance [peace] and controlling greed though   unconditional giving (love), then joy is achieved.

LOVE-PEACE-JOY then becomes an inside process not an external goal to be achieved through materialism, relationships, knowledge or religion [focusing on external rules, rituals or your own good works]

Spiritual principle of HOPE applies- Trust that the goal has been achieved, before it has occurred. That is, transcend time, and know it before it has happened.

Human nature is based on greed to achieve more goals, it is external.

Human beings also have a internal drive for love. In CPM the key elements of love are trust, respect, acceptance and commitment. Love is achieved through secure attachment. Insecure attachment arises through lack of trust, respect, acceptance and commitment and will cause unresolved issues. The subconscious mind will continue to work on resolving the unresolved issues by recreating a similar set of circumstances to those which caused the unresolved issue.

The key objective of CPM is to both assist the client resolve their unresolved issues and also rise above their fear and greed. Both of these goals are to be achieved internally, not externally.

 

4th Truth: Support versus Challenge

We live in a universe based on balance. Support versus challenge  relates to the two sides of every situation.

Emotional [EQ] balance is between the positive-personal principles, and the negative-behavioral principles. Eg  Trust-fear, Respect-anger.

Cognitive [IQ] balance is between Support- challenge, Gain-loss, Benefit-cost, Advantage-disadvantage, etc.

Spiritual [EQ] is always in balance, it provides the spiritual principles for EQ and IQ to return to balance.

If we try and live in a one sided world we get stuck in dysfunctions, such as depression [challenge no support], or narcissism  [support no challenge]. If we strive for support with no challenge, then suffering comes along to try to humble us to get us back into balance.

 

5th Truth: Influence versus Concern 

Influence has been redefined as “something or someone I have control over”, whereas concern has been redefined and “something or someone I have no control over”

In relation to time and suffering:

  • Influence is using the past for knowledge. Concern uses the past to ruminate “If only”
  • Influence uses the future for planning. Concern uses the future to worry “what if”
  • Influence can be in the present, whereas concern can only be in the past or future.
  • If you apply influence to the  spiritual principle of suffering, then it becomes a positive, however, if you apply concern to suffering, it becomes a negative.
  • When influence is applied to suffering, then you grow a behavioral principle, such as courage, patience or self control.
  • When concern is applied to suffering, then you grow a negative principle, such as criticism, blaming yourself, others or circumstances.

6th Truth:  Control versus Responsibility.

This is one of the most difficult truths to follow, because we are taught from a young age to be in control and to be responsible, but that advice only refers to our external behavior. This truth is the most powerful for reducing anxiety and depression.

Control refers to internal control, not external control. Going outside yourself for control is a weakness, not a strength.

If you have concern but no influence over the outcome, then take no responsibility for the outcome. When you have influence then fix the problem.

If you have a good habit then try not to change it during a critical time. Only work on a good habit in practice time, to make it a better habit.

Human nature needs both control and responsibility, whereas, spiritual intelligence requires no internal control or responsibility.

Hope [spiritual principle] is based on trust and is “known” before it happens. Hope trusts the underlying principles, beliefs, knowledge and past experience of the subconscious pattern system, that is, your intuition. However, it has to be used with wisdom.

Goal [human nature equivalent of hope] requires both control and responsibility, because it is external and is based on following a pathway to the goal and staying on the pathway.

There are three levels of control

No conscious control. Where the subconscious patterning system, normally a bad habit, is controlling the outcome. This is dysfunctional control.

Conscious control. Where the conscious mind through logic and positive thinking is controlling the outcome. This is conscious flow and life balance.

Voluntarily giving up conscious control. Where you voluntarily give up control to your spiritual principles, such as unconditional giving, unconditional acceptance and hope and “just do it” without thinking. This is the state of optimum flow.

 

  7th Truth:  Behavior versus the Person

In positive situations always make it personal, in negative situations always make it about the behavior. Examples:

  • Using the spiritual principle of forgiveness (positive), then split the person from their behavior. Forgive the person and put the behavior aside because you believe that the behavior will be dealt with by God, or karma or something else. The reason you forgive is not for the benefit of the other person, but to prevent internal resentment eating away at your positive principles, such as peace.
  • In negative situations use influencing principles [positive/behavioral] such as assertiveness, if you are disrespected. Don’t use negative concerns [negative/personal], such as rage and abuse the person.

Rule: Support the person, challenge the behavior. To build secure attachment with a child, give more support (but not too much) than challenge, then move towards balance during their teenage years.

Personal Growth:

In personal grow situations always  put your self first [internally only], by asking yourself questions in the following order:

WHO am I?

WHAT do I want?

HOW do I get it?

When facing situations most people want to know how to fix the problem, without knowing who they are or what they want. You must know “Who am I?” based on your principles, before you ask “What do I Want?” otherwise an internal conflict is created and the two aren’t aligned.

With dysfunction, when the question of “Who am I” is asked the person may not know or give an answer that feels uncomfortable. This is because the explicit “Who am I” and the implicit “Who am I” are different. The implicit answer is within the subconscious mind and is not available as a thought, but only as a feeling to the conscious mind. The implicit “who am I” can be adversely affected by unresolved issues from the past.
